Government Degree College, Chodavaram was established in the year 1981. The college was affiliated to Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. It was recognized by UGC under 2f and 12b. The college was located in Chodavaram, a small town in the Anakapalle district of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The college was catering to the academic needs of the rural, tribal, and women students. It is offering five UG programs, BA (History, Economics, and Political Science), BCom (General), BSc (Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry), BSc (Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science), and BSc (Botany, Zoology, and Chemistry). It is also offering three PG programs, MSc (Organic Chemistry), MSc (Physics), and MCom. At present, 579 students are pursuing UG and PG programs in the college. 18% of students are tribal students and 49% of students are women students. 22 faculty members and 6 non-teaching staff under the leadership of the Principal are working hard to make the college a leading learning institute emphasizing the holistic development of the students.
